“Where Time Stands Still” by Gavkys

Gavkys just released his new single, “Where Time Stands Still,” today, March 31, 2025!

“Where Time Stands Still” meshes sounds electronic and operatic to create a piece that is delivered as both laid back and cinematic. In the foreground, a midi-sounding vocal “Ahh” with wispy ethereal tones. The track starts with this melody and long-held bass notes resting softly in the background. As this voice seems to be made to pull the audience straight into its atmosphere, an orchestra starts to dance around it. The elements grow together slowly, but they keep an overall softness to them. The sound ends up with a full orchestration with bass harmonies layered gorgeously with the primary vocals. It’s like this track is here to reel listeners into a soft embrace, a space of solace.

“The song begins with a simple, heartfelt vocal line, singing the melody slowly, almost like a meditation. As it moves forward, the full orchestra and male choir come in, adding layers of emotion and giving the piece a powerful, cinematic depth,” Gavkys says about the piece. He made it with the intent of composing a deeply emotional sound that pulls the listener in and gives them a place to pause. And the slow build of the track does just that. There’s a peace to the way the track is slowly pulled along by the vocals, but there’s an epic aspect to the way the instrumentation builds so smoothly.

Kyprianos Gavriil, or Gavkys, is a 17-year-old Cyprus-based cinematic composer. He writes songs meant for scores that are meant to add a sense of completion to what is being shown in scenes. “I specialize in cinematic music, blending orchestral sounds with atmospheric elements to create immersive soundscapes that fit perfectly with film, games, or any project needing a dynamic, emotional score,” he states. Prior, he has been in and won some of the largest competition contests in Cyprus. He’s also released a few singles and an album which show a lot of depth to his range of compositions. With or without a visual behind it, Gavkys knows how to make a captivating sound.
