“Vitamins ” – jamesbetamax

“Vitamins ” by jamesbetamax gives you that gritty, raw, storytelling type of feel that a lot of contemporary rap songs aren’t replicating in 2023. Jamesbetamax is from Queens, which can explain why his lyrics and flow are reminiscent of Nas and MF Doom, both rappers who grew up in a distinct city upbringing. His lyrics are like a labyrinth of intricate wordplay, metaphors, and cultural references that, if you’re like me, you have to replay a couple of times to truly catch. “Vitamins” also has a distinctive rhythmic flow that’s both hypnotic and addictive to run back. PRiM’s production arrangement really ties the song together with its solid layering, which gives “Vitamins” a collage-like feeling in his beats that is precise and polished.
