“VIOLET” by Glass Mansions

Glass Mansions’ latest track “VIOLET” came out today, May 30, 2025!

“VIOLET” is a dark and buzzy electronic alternative pop rock track that captures with punchy vocals and distorted instrumentation, with a buzzy bass and ethereal bright synths. There’s a thrashiness to some of the guitars and bass that’s paired well with the raw growl of the vocals, and the vocal filtering fits them into the buzz of the instrumental cleanly. It’s a track that seems to pull you into its energy, the speedier moments utilizing dynamic mixing to pull listeners into the rush and emotion of the moment. The stronger moments take up much of the track, but there are some softer moments that allow for some play in building the energy and delivering the important hits.

In terms of lyrics, “VIOLET” was written with an early Black Mirror episode in mind, with a focus on making a brand around and curating one’s own aesthetic due to doomscrolling culture. The use of violet is used as a reference to the unending scrollability of social media and what it’s like to get wrapped up in it with no way out. It’s written with a lot of poeticism, and the way it walks around this metaphor feels like storytelling at its finest. The story and musicality are paired well with a gorgeously shot music video that captures Jayna Doyle running from several situations, such as an unseen force in a forest, a robbery, and a wedding. Between each scene, words representing different emotions appear.

Glass Mansions is an Austin, TX-based alternative pop duo that works with pop influences from pop in the 90s and more recent pop, mixed with some rock influences. It consists of vocalist Jayna Doyle with instrumentation by Blake Arambula. Their music tends to be electronic and buzzy with filtered vocals that deliver with passion. In the past, they’ve been featured on Bravo, Netflix, and MTV, and their more recent tracks have been received well critically. Now is the time to catch ‘VIOLET,’ as it’s absolutely fresh.
