“THE WAY A FRIEND WOULD” – Heather Sommer

“THE WAY A FRIEND WOULD” is one of those songs that are so straightforward that you sit back and think, how has this not been a song before now? Then you realize it is because would anyone other than Heather Sommer have delivered it as well as she does? Every aspect of this song was perfect from Heather’s performance to the narrative to the arrangement. While Heather Sommer displays her self-doubt for all to hear in this song, the irony is that she created a singer-songwriter’s dream with it at the same time.

Inspired by the wise words of her mother, “THE WAY A FRIEND WOULD” captures the reality we all need to face – would we ever say what we say to ourselves to a friend? More than likely not because we typically tend to be our own worst enemy due to a cascade of insecurities that keep our minds whirling about. “THE WAY A FRIEND WOULD” captures all of that and then some wonderfully and is one of those songs that if you haven’t heard of Heather Sommer before hearing it – will make you backtrack and listen to everything that came before it as her voice comes through with a sweet conviction.

Heather Sommer dropped her debut single, “Fighter,” back in 2015 and since then she has been working on adding to her discography. That includes releasing her debut EP, ‘nocturnal,’ in 2021. “THE WAY A FRIEND WOULD” is not only her latest but her third single so far this year, following “ON DEMAND” and “CHAMELEON.” To hear all of that and more, make sure to check out Heather Sommer on all major music and streaming sites today.
