“Telling The Truth” by Micah Dean

If you’d like to listen to a song that’ll relax you but also make you want to dance, you should definitely check out Micah Dean’s latest electro-pop song, “Telling The Truth.” We had the pleasure of interviewing Micah Dean, and here’s what he had to say:

Q: I thought the beats were lovely! Did you have a clear direction/idea of how you wanted “Telling The Truth” to sound and the effect you wanted it to have on listeners before you started creating the song?

DEAN: Thank you! Yeah, I worked on this song with talented producer Olso. The whole thing started with me just playing some chords on a synth while he developed a drum loop within a few minutes we knew we had something with a good vibe. The lyrical ideas and overall sentiment of the song came later in the writing process, so at first, it was just about the vibe.

Q: In what ways do you think your songs reflect your personality?

DEAN: I try to create songs that are laid back but also passionate. I think it’s nice to see an emotion through the lens of a digestible lens of a song.

Q: What did you enjoy the most about creating this song?

DEAN: I would say my favorite thing about this song is actually the lyrics. I wrote about a time in my romantic relationship when my partner was pretty hesitant about moving forward. During that time I just wanted her to know that she didn’t have to put walls up and that things really were as good as they seemed. Just wanted her to know it was a safe place.

Q: What role do you think music played in the early years of your life?

DEAN: Some of my earliest memories are playing in a drum set my parents bought me as a Christmas gift when I was around 4 or 5 years old. Music always meant so much to me. I felt understood by it. It was so exciting and amazing to me that it generated a lot of drive and passion, I definitely couldn’t have gotten to where I am so without that drive that music provided.

Q: What’s your go-to song that can always put you in a good mood?

DEAN: Open Arms by SZA ft Travis Scott.

Q: What projects are currently in the works?

DEAN: Finishing up a bunch of new songs right now! Going to be releasing singles frequently for the rest of the year (: thanks for listening!
