“Superficial” – Alessia Labate

If you want to know someone’s age, put on any song and see how they react. Dance moves are a telltale sign of age, and when I pressed play on “Superficial” by Alessia Labate, my millennial tree rings showed because I couldn’t help but bust out some moves made famous by ‘Tiger Beat’ pop makers like Britney and Christina back in the day.

This is because “Superficial” is a pop music lover’s dream come true. The music creates a solid foundation for Alessia Labate to build upon, and this Italian singer constructs nothing but solid gold from start to finish. On top of being a fantastic addition to the current pop music climate alongside the likes of Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande, Alessia Labate also infuses her heritage into a mix of lively R&B and mixes all of that with Italian notes throughout as well as lyrics that elevate this song to a cultural experience not to be missed.

Alessia Labate has been making major noise in the industry since her 2019 debut, “Black Soul.” Since then she’s been nonstop with the single releases, releasing well over a dozen last year and even more in 2021. So when news broke a bilingual EP was on the way – fans were thrilled. Come mid-November, ‘YMNE’ was out, and on that, you can find an array of wonder, including “Superficial.” To hear that song, the whole EP, and more – check Alessia Labate’s music out now on all major music and streaming sites.
