“Strawberry Vanilla Sky” – FRANK

We had the pleasure of interviewing FRANK, and here’s what she had to say:

Q: What drives you to create music?

FRANK: When it comes to explaining how I feel, music has always felt effortless, like a second language. Music is one of the very few things I feel intelligent and instinctive about, and it comes so naturally that I never questioned why I make music. It’s just been more of a necessity. I love to connect with people and bear fruit from my experiences, and music is such a beautiful way to do that.

Q: At what point did you decide that you want to be a musician? Why?

FRANK: I was 16, and had just attended a music business camp. All the teachers and my peers were super encouraging and saw my potential. It felt a bit unreal. The people who I looked up to encouraged me, challenged me and helped push me toward seriously pursuing my gifts.

Q: What inspired “Strawberry Vanilla Sky”?

FRANK: The inspiration was the summer love story between my husband and I. We met in May of 2021 and our first date was something I had never experienced, we fell in love rather quickly. Experiencing a love like his felt almost as if I was having some sort of out-of-body experience. In many ways, I couldn’t make sense of it. The “summer high” referenced in the song was what our new love felt like, and I wanted the song to capture the joy and innocence of new love.

Q: What effect would you like your music to have on listeners?

FRANK: I want the effect to be joy, sadness, pain, all of it. All these things have taught me lessons and I want to encourage people to listen to what life is trying to tell them. It can be hard to be honest with ourselves, or with our feelings, and music taught me how to do that.

Q: In what way(s) do you think your sound and style have evolved since you began making music?

FRANK: My style and sound now have evolved into a more refined and unique sound than I ever expected. I stepped out of any sort of box and just began creating what feels exciting. I always feel the more I learn, the more I change. My music is different because I’m different. I have stylistic roots, but I love to try new things.

Q: What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten to your music?

FRANK: I like it when people cry. I feel a bit bad, but I also know that I made something that moved people and that means something to me. Crying is good for the soul.
