“Sometimes I Wanna Cry :(” by Sarina

Sarina’s released single, “Sometimes I Wanna Cry :(” expresses how people feel inside sometimes, with a sense of sentimal soundsgarden and alternative pop at its finest. We had the pleasure of interviewing Sarina, and here is what she had to say:

Q: Hi Sarina, welcome to the Music and Fashion Blog! Could you tell fans a fun fact about yourself?

SARINA: I don’t know if these are fun facts. I’ve read over 300 books, I have around 30 songs written and waiting for the world to hear. I collect one of a kind hyper-realistic cat ears!

Q: Your style is Gothic chic and gives you a deep, noble, and dramatic look. How did this inspire you as an artist?

SARINA: I don’t know about noble but I’m happy to hear that haha. Fashion is a part of self-expression which means a lot to me. Fashion has always been one of my passions because of that. What I’m wearing is usually a direct representation of my “vibe” that day. I think that different music has always inspired a different “look” depending on the sound. I think for my personal artistic vision it’s just another tool to wield and express emotion and feeling

Q: Give us the background story of how your vision for “Sometimes I Wanna Cry :(” came together?

SARINA: Sometimes I Wanna Cry 🙁 originated from a frustration of wanting to cry and scream but not being able. Whenever I have feelings I need to express, “Sometimes I Wanna Cry :(” originated from a frustration of wanting to cry and scream but not being able. Whenever I have feelings I need to express, I listen to music that lets me sing them. In this case I wanted something simple and straightforward with an easy-to-scream melody. When I couldn’t think of one that already existed off the top of my head, I wrote one. It was actually just a chorus I posted to Instagram on a whim! It was widely popular and garnered over 2 million views! I just HAD to release an official single.

Q: Were there certain album or single covers that you wanted to climb into?

SARINAThere are so many I couldn’t choose just one! I have a thing for symbolism and flames, but I also love misty moors and mysterious imagery. There is a pianist named Joshua Kyan Alampour and he has a small EP of 3 songs titled “Birth Of A Tyrant”. It’s the album cover of those songs that I’d love to walk into. It makes me feel like a mysterious and powerful villain who knows they will bring about the end of days… but can’t seem to care.

I think ultimately the album cover needs to represent the world you are building with your song. It is something personal for every artist and as art tends to be, it is interpreted differently for everyone. I like setting the tone for a song on the album cover. I want to tell the listener with that visual “hey, this is the world you step into when you listen to this song.

Q: If you had the chance to open a show for any artist, who would it be? And why?

SARINA: This is such a hard question!! There are numerous artists I’d love to share a stage with. I think in a dream scenario I’d prefer to be on the same stage at a music festival! I don’t think I could choose a single band but I’d be honored to be invited to perform at a music festival with bands like My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Evanescence and countless others.

Q: What are your plans? Both musically and personally?

SARINAThank you again! I HAVE SO MANY AND ITS EXCITING BUT ALSO STRESSFUL!!! First off I want to do as many live shows as possible!!! I also have some plans for future songs that I’m excited about. My personal goal is to continuously elevate what I release! I think my next projects will succeed! Up until now you’ve seen a few different faces of mine from the melodic rock Identity, to the fun and kind of silly Mime in Sometimes I wanna cry!

I even showed off my acting chops in Melancholy Roads (No More)… fun fact tho, 3/5 of those songs I wrote many, many years ago. Now you guys are beginning to understand who I am now. Unabashedly revealing all that I am. It’s an absolute pleasure to introduce myself to you all and I hope you love what I came up with!
