“Skin” by Kid Tigrrr is a soothing dream-pop song that explores independence and the struggle to reclaim your identity. When I first played Tigrrr’s song, I looked in the mirror and realized that I definitely was not the person I used to be. I believe that’s the beauty within the song, it’s a universal feeling to feel a little lost within yourself, even when you feel like you’ve been on autopilot doing everything correct. Even though this can sound very melancholic, there is a powerful anthem of liberation within the lyrics, as Tigrrr declares their intention to break free from the confines of their past and embrace their true self once more. It’s a defiant statement of resilience in the face of adversity. And that’s the beauty of life right? To grow, evolve, and learn to love yourself again through the midst of it all is the most human experience one can have, and I feel like Tigrrr captures this concept perfectly.
