“Shaky Day” by Blond in Car Ft. Jay Som

Blond in Car (Robin Schorr) just dropped her new album GLIDER today, November 4, 2026. This album includes the track “Shaky Day,” which stands out with its atmospheric dreamscape filled with a deep, introspective vibe that extends through both the music and lyricism.

The first thing that stands out about this track is the vocals. There’s a bit of a nasal buzz to them, but the delivery doesn’t feel forced. Instead, it mixes that sound with a bit of a breathy softness that delivers ethereal beauty. On the other hand, there are parts in which the vocals have a stronger delivery in a way that’s vaguely reminiscent of pop-punk music.

In the background, the guitars take the stage with a reverb-laden sound that builds emotion straight into its atmosphere and delivers a sense of deep thought. Also, though this track has that bit of laid-backness in its instrumentation, the percussion still delivers some energy to spice things up and keep them interesting. It has a distinct smoothness with just a bit of a punch. Also, there are dreamier synthy aspects that become more prominent as it moves along in a slow build with a strong finish. This all jumps out even more due to the amazing production lent by Melina Duterte of Jay Som. From start to finish, every aspect of this track seems absolutely intentional.

Lyrically, “Shaky Day” was written by Blond in Car with Lynn, her older sister, in mind. It’s about having someone to turn to when the struggles crash down. On this, she notes, “Meanwhile, as a person who is used to living at the whim of my mood swings … there is nothing that helps me as much as the comforting voice of my older sister on a Shaky Day.” In general terms, this song is about having someone to turn to when one’s mood swings low and they need a pick-me-up. It’s about humanity and connection, and how said connection can be healing. Though there is an emotional aspect in some of the sound and the songwriting, “Shaky Day” delivers a narrative of another providing hope through the harder moments.

“Shaky Day” was released alongside Blond in Car’s new album GLIDER today. That means right now is the best time to listen and catch it while it’s fresh!
