“Red Flag” by KTEE

“Red Flag” is electrifying, and it seems to transcend eras with some 80s instrumental influences with an early 2000s vibe in modern day. The quick tempo and captivating instrumental melody pull listeners into its forward force, confidence to be heard through every punchy note. The bass lead gives the primary drive, and the rest of the synths dance around it gracefully. The mix is used to deliver a sound that’s full of life but not busy. And then there are the vocals, which have powerful belts and also follow that quick rhythm with intricacies that are pulled out with their stellar production.

The title of this track establishes the lyrics well: “Red Flag.” It’s about warning signs to be found when getting into a relationship, ones that should be seen but are overlooked due to love and a want for connection. The subconscious may be able to see these red flags, but love and the heart ignite them. “You only call me when you’re drunk / always feel like showing up when it’s a midnight kind of love / only call me when you’re high / happens only in the night,” the lyrical narrative starts. This is a story of a kind of relationship that many find themselves trapped in, which gives it a lot of relatability. However, it captures the perspective of the person chasing love and not reason.

Ever since she was a baby in Austria, KTEE has spent a lot of time singing, and that voice has developed into the passion she has today for songwriting and creating music. She jumpstarted her career in 2007 while living in Ireland, dreaming of finding her space in the music industry. Since then, she’s achieved so many things. For example, her 2017 track “Rollercoaster” was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. Additionally, her track “Louder” from October 2018 was featured on the air in several countries. Her past and what she’s done speak for themselves, and this passion and experience have led to the stellar sound and narrative of “Red Flag.”
