“Part of Me” – Dajana

We had the pleasure of interviewing Dajana, and here’s what she had to say:

Q: What inspired “Part of Me”?

DAJANA: I started writing the lyrics about 5 years ago during a time when I still was an addict (smoked weed every day) and my life was just upside down. Then I finished the song last year, 4 years into my sobriety. And what I’m really describing in the song is that I thought I had to let go of all the fun and creative and a bit crazy sides of myself being sober but in sobriety, I learned that I can choose to keep that part of me but use that wild and crazy side when it benefits my life and not the opposite like it was before.

Q: What was a typical day in the studio like?

DAJANA: When creating new music a typical day starts in the evening because that’s when I have the most flow. On other days, It’s like a 10-5 job. I make a list of what needs to be done and try to follow that through.

Q: What do you enjoy most about creating music?

DAJANA: The fact that I’m passionate about what I’m doing. Also, I really, really love when I find nice chords and melodies that tickle my whole spirit.

Q: What’s one thing you’re really looking forward to doing this year?

DAJANA: Releasing my whole EP. Especially the last song “I say yes” on my upcoming EP which is one of those songs where I think I found some unique chords and melodies. Also, I’m going on tour, and I’m going to build a clay house studio at home where I live 🙂

Q: Which artist would you say has had the most influence on your sound?

DAJANA: I’m very versatile when it comes to creating music and I don’t stick to one sound, so it changes from project to project. But for my latest project, I think you can hear a bit of Kanye West, Willow Smith, and The Weeknd in it.

Q: If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you most like to have?

DAJANA: I would have a fishnet, a firestarter, and a machete. But I mean I could also just take a phone with its own satellite and call for help : )
