“Over & Over” – twentylove

We had the pleasure of interviewing twentylove, and here’s what they had to say:

Q: What inspired the melody for “Over & Over”?

TWENTYLOVE: This melody started in Nashville with James Ennis. I was on my first writing trip out of LA for twentylove, so I was really excited and had a lot of voice notes ready. I don’t recall exactly how the melody came about, but James and I found common ground by talking about our lives and where we fit in. We got on the topic of jumping head first. I brought the session back to LA and spent a while tuning the production. Will Ventres helped us mix it all together in the end.

Q: What was a typical day in the studio like?

TWENTYLOVE: It’s usually sad people creating sounds capable of conveying their emotions. We’re looking for something to pull you from your train of thought, and make you look over your shoulder to say, “Hey, play that again…” At least that’s how I feel when I’m making my proudest work.

Q: What would you say was your favorite aspect of the creative process?

TWENTYLOVE: I like smoking weed and eating pizza. Most of my favorite creations stem from late-night hangs with good people. I learn so much from my peers always gaining new perspectives. There aren’t many professions that allow strangers to open up like this.

Q: What do you enjoy most about creating music?

TWENTYLOVE: It can be irresponsible, and it feels amazing. It’s a party, it’s a therapy session. It all depends on what you need.

Q: What’s one thing you’re really looking forward to doing this year?

TWENTYLOVE: I have a taped live performance dropping with Idobi radio soon that I’m stoked for! Otherwise, playing more shows in SoCal and releasing more tunes this year.

Q: If you could be one superhero for a day, who would you be? Why?

TWENTYLOVE: I would be Batman and throw parties in my bat cave. I’d call them bat raves.
