“one day before i die” – nobody likes you pat

The worst trap we fall into on a day-to-day basis is thinking we have all the time in the world. The reality is that life is never as long as one assumes. On average we have a little less than 80 years to do it all, but that’s never enough. “one day before I die” by nobody likes you pat takes the idea of someone saying all the “Oh, I’m doing this, and thats” and turns it into a moment of realization. What if you one had one day left, but in actuality – that could be what some of us have because you never know.

What I like about “one day before I die” is that on the surface it’s this happy-go-lucky song with its very singer-songwriter charm, but when you pull back the layers there is a deeper meaning. It’s like breaking down the lyrical content of Third Eye Blind’s “Semi-Charmed Life.” You don’t think that surgery sound packs a punch, but then it becomes a heavyweight champion with the one-two punch of insightful lyricism.

With all that’s gone down in our current state of reality over the past couple of years, songs like “one day before I die” are here to remind us that taking each breath for granted needs to stop. Make the most of each second on the clock. With that, nobody likes you pat’s latest does just that, and it’s not all that this indie-pop wonder has going on. The latest is the first release of 2022 but coming in behind “one day before I die” are two dynamic EPs; ‘now that i’m here, i feel like myself’ and ‘spinning.’
