“Last Nite” – Potatohead People x Redman

When I played “Last Nite” by Potatohead People ft. Redman, it reminded me of everything I missed listening to from 90s and early 2000s hip-hop. The jazz influences, the easy-going rap flow, the R&B influences, REDMAN!! It all felt like delicious ingredients that were combined together to create a eclectic, neo-soul, rhythm and flow hip-hop soup. Every rhyme scheme bounced off of each other so seamlessly, it was almost hard to figure out who was saying what verse in the moment. That’s okay though, because it gave me an excuse to stop the song and run it back all over again, so I can truly appreciate the work that went into this old school reminiscent hip-hop song.
