MoulD is set to release his debut album, “It’s more FUN in the DARK,” on May 16, 2025.

“It’s more FUN in the DARK” hits a vein of dark trap music headed by artists such as Killstation, Grim Salvo, and OmenXII, but it’s done in a unique way with how different influences are used. It is mainly characterized by its metal-influenced power instrumentation, trap drums, strong growly vocals, all with spoken-word samples and intricate guitar solos dashed in. However, it stands out as being extremely dynamic. No two tracks are too similar, and each track highlights different genres and influences.
The following tracklist features the twelve songs that are in the album, four of which can be found in the currently available EP “Romantic Songs To Play In The Dark.”
Track list:
I don’t wanna be with someone that doesn’t wanna fuck me
cUrSe
Don’t Miss Me When I’m DeaD
MAD
Blood Drips
The Sky Where We Collide
SUMMONING MEMORIES
To Vals Ton Gamimenon Oneiron
The Forest Where I Say My Goodbyes
Generation EnD
The World Is Upside Down
The Sound Of My Last Day

This album has a lot of highs and lows energy-wise when it comes to the overarching track list. This also plays into the diversity in ways that genre is used. There are points where the dark trap sound is prevalent, but others hit a tone in which the metal takes the forefront. On the other end, some have a bit more of a melodic, softer rock sound, and different tracks take on a more metal tone.
“I don’t wanna be with someone that doesn’t wanna fuck me” starts things off with a sample that follows the title as a good hook, and it features power-bass and vocals that are both punchy and scratchy. “cUrSe,’ which immediately follows gives even more of a growl that breaks into a scream and more melodic moments, a deep overarching buzz. These tracks set the stage with their power and range.
That being said, there are other tracks such as “MAD,” which has a great hook-y chorus with an anthemic nature underlying it, but still has that powerful sound. “Blood Drips” pulls the tempo back and is softer at times with a more pulled-back drum and percussion sound that stands out from the speedier trap influences overall. “SUMMONING MEMORIES” also has a slower tempo, but a strong bass sound stands out as it cuts in. It also jumps between growly whispers and screams in a way that delivers a lot of emotion.
“The Forest Where I Say My Goodbyes” Keeps up with the softer pacing, and the vocals hit a smoother sound, but there’s still an emotional growl dashed in. Ethereal vocal “ooh’”s cut in and out at times, and the stereo plays with smoothly transitioning sounds from ear to ear. “The World Is Upside Down” then moves to an even heavier screamed vocal for most of it. And this comes just before the final track, “The Sound Of My Last Day.” This moves things into a much softer vocal and pulled back sound with simple guitar and synths and vocal harmonies.
This is an album that finds ebbs and flows that fit into a musical narrative well, but it doesn’t rush itself. It has its upbeat hits and emotional pull-backs. It feels carefully crafted with tracks that stand out in their own ways, and in doing so, it makes every track stand out.
Lyrically, it’s deep and dark in the way it captures the aftermath of being with a narcissistic partner who plays with emotion. It gets into feelings of hurt, pain, heartbreak, and anger deeply due to a former obsessive relationship filled with mistreatment, such as gaslighting and emotional games for pleasure.
It’s a hard listen, in the right ways. The way emotions are portrayed delves into mental depths that one may go through after getting out of a similar relationship. It seems to depict emotions shifting between stages. The hurt and anger swing back and forth, and there’s a sense of yearning dashed in between. This is done with dark depictions of death, touches on depression and its effects, and a struggle to live with the pain. In “The Sound Of My Last Day,” there are the lyrics, “I don’t like the world right now / I don’t want anyone’s company / (Not even mine) / My mind is killing me / I wanna die tonight.”
Overall, this album is dark and dreary with depictions of a deep emotional struggle. It does all this by playing with trap, metal, rock, rebetiko, and other influences. It shows the difficulty that comes with finding acceptance after going through deep struggles at the hands of another. It’s not an easy listen, but it is one that deserves to be heard. The diversity in sound track to track follows the lyrical depictions, and this makes it a very cohesive piece with a clear storyline.
