“Is It Me” by Soft Loft

On March 9th, the Switzerland-based band Soft Loft released their first single, “Is It Me.”This wonderfully atmospheric new song is sure to pull listeners in with ease. We had the pleasure of interviewing Soft Loft, and here’s what they had to say:

Q: What does “Is It Me” mean to you?

SOFT LOFT (JORINA): “Is It Me“ is one of our favourite songs on the EP and our very first single, so it feels quite special to release this and finally show people what we have been working on. As it is our first single now it also feels like we’re real, Soft Loft exists and we’re not just talking about it : )

Q: What aspect of the production process did you enjoy the most?

SOFT LOFT (JORINA): We just really loved working with Luca on the songs, he brought such good energy and really pushed us to be the best version of ourselves. We had the best time recording the songs in Engelberg in a snowy house all to ourselves. I kind of loved most, that we didn’t thrive for perfection at all, and yet this is some of the best music we’ve created so far.

Q: Did you have a clear direction/idea of how you wanted this song to sound from the get-go or did it come to you in bits and pieces?

SOFT LOFT (JORINA): For this song as soon as we had all the vocal parts it was very obvious in what direction the song would go and we finished it quite fast besides some small arrangement aspects that we changed on the go.

Q: I know Soft Loft is currently made up of Jorina Stamm, Sarina Schmid, Lukas Kuprecht, Simon Boss, and Marius Meier. But what is Soft Loft’s origin story?

SOFT LOFT (JORINA): Funny you ask, we created Soft Loft to be exactly made up of those five people, there’s no real origin story to this. We’ve played music together for quite some time in another project and wanted to form a band that’s fully us five, so here’s Soft Loft.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve received as a band?

SOFT LOFT (JORINA): Hmm, I think to not take everything too seriously all of the time and most of all have fun while doing everything. Musicians nowadays sometimes get caught up in wanting everything to be so good and sometimes this keeps us from just really enjoying creating and playing music together.

Q: What would you like to say to your supporters?

SOFT LOFT (JORINA): Thanks for listening to our music and being part of our journey, we have so much more to come!
