“Fire and Ice” – WYO

“Fire and Ice” by WYO is a poignant indie pop ballad that encapsulates the tumultuous journey of life and relationships very well. The lyrics give off very detailed imagery, depicting a casual summer walk with somethin going on that doesn’t feel fully right. WYO does a great job intertwining warmth and cold winds as metaphors for emotional highs and lows and navigating the ever-changing seasons of feelings. WYO also tells their listeners to greatly heed their warning on the necessity of extinguishing the flame when emotions become overwhelming. It seems as if the reocurring theme of “fire and ice” portrays the delicate balance between passion and detachment within complex relationships. “Fire and Ice” is a contemplative song, urging us listeners to trust our instincts when things do not feel like they are going right, especially in relationships.
