“DUMB” by EMM

“DUMB” is a track that came out alongside EMM’s brand new album “BLACK DIAMOND” released today, 03/07/2025. When placed alongside previous singles “EAT MY ACID,” “MASTERMIND,” “PEACHES & CREAM,” and more. she’s making her mark as the alien-like pop idol this world has needed.

Straight to the point, this is an absolute banger (Like much of what EMM has already produced). Its production quality is stellar, and it rivals tracks by artists such as Ashnikko, REI AMI, and Lilyisthatyou. Its sound is alternative-pop with a rich blend of different influences. It has some influence from hip hop, dance, punk, electronic, and more. The percussion gives it a punchy drive, the bass buzzes with power, and the rest of the synths wrap it all in atmosphere and life. Then the vocals? Well, they’re absolutely well crafted. The chorus is so catchy, the rhythm is astoundingly dynamic, and EMM has amazing belts.

Then, the lyrics, like the music, are wrapped in expert craftsmanship. There is a part of it that isn’t catchy. The verses express to a “silly little boy” that he’s dumb and blind for his mistreatment of the narrator in the track. They essentially tell him that he lost something worth keeping. Then the pre-chorus shares that this dumb boy was never needed and the chorus is, “I go dumb,” with “dumb” in a rhythmic repetition. Overall, it’s a kick back in the face of someone who mistreated another who he never deserved in the first place.

EMM is more than just a pop idol. She’s a producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer as well as a women’s advocate with a message. Her music lines up with those that are top in the industry, and her multifaceted talents bring an originality to things. She doesn’t just sing, she plays a role in every part of instrumentation and production. On top of making music that empowers, she runs a brand focused on speaking on mental health issues called, “Emmpowerment.” Emm is here to uplift other women with self-crafted music that packs a serious kick, and “DUMB” is just another powerful addition to what she’s already created.
