“Down to Zero” by SV & Alyssa Jane

“Down to Zero” by composer and producer SV, and singer-songwriter, Alyssa Jane has a refreshingly captivating sound with its smooth transitions and flawless production, creating an infectious effect that will have you falling in love. We had the pleasure of interviewing SV, and here’s what he had to say:

Q: What drives you to make music?

SV: The out! Takes me to a different place. I love it.

Q: Could you walk us through the production process for “Down to Zero”?

SV: I make a lot of beats! That one I banged out quick and ended it short at 1:45 originally. Listening back to the beat a couple weeks later, the piano melody I came up with, I kept hearing in my head, so asked Alyssa Jane if she’d be interested in adding to it. She took it to a new level! I ended up adding the chorus back again at the end. I kept her stemmed wet backing vocals ad-libs because I thought it sounded so good. A bit gritty, and sounds kind of like a sample.

Q: At what point did you feel ready to share this song?

SV: When I got the track back from Alyssa. She killed it beyond anything I could have imagined. Had to share! I loved it, I hoped someone else in the world would too.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve received regarding being a musician?

SV: Spread things out, let certain things breathe. Keep it simple.

Q: What genre do you think best describes you?

SV: This track is alt RnB, hip hop, electro-pop, mixes into a lot of genres I think.

Q: What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

SV: n/a
