Day Off – Elyrix & Gunna

“Day Off” by Elyrix & Gunna is the type of song you want to turn on in the morning to start your day off right. What first draws the listener in is the celebratory horns in the instrumental, and then Elyrix starts rapping. His self-assured lyrics and drive to succeed is almost infectious, and feels attainable even for the most average person. Elyrix knows that he’s at the top of his game, and when he looks down, he sees the people who fell off from their highly coveted spots. If you thought that was the end of “Day Off,” Gunna slides on the track with his perspective of what a playboy, lavish lifestyle looks like. His familiar melodic rapping style hypnotizes you into a state of calm opulence, not that anyone is complaining about that. You don’t even realize the song is over but when you do, you find yourself hitting the replay button immediately.
