“chase u!” – My Friend Shawn

“chase u!” by My Friend Shawn starts out with a sexy guitar intro that makes you feel like you are in a Flamenco bar in Spain. But here is where the instrumentals go crazy, cause Shawn flips it into an alt-hip hop type of beat. “chase u!” is a fucked up kind of love story, where one person is into another person heavy, and is dealing with the repercussions of unrequited love. This emotionally charged track gives us an intimate look into Shawn’s journey through the ups and downs of romantic attraction. The audience can’t help but empathize with Shawn’s struggles of putting in all the effort in a dying relationship and ultimately deciding to let go, especially when his lyrical flow is so infectious. “chase u!” is a relatable song for anyone who has experienced the excruciating pain and resilience of unreciprocated affection.
