“Can’t Quit” by Adam Bright

Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Adam Bright has created a deeply emotional song, “Can’t Quit,” that expresses the pain of loving yourself/someone struggling with addiction amid numerous disappointments, even when everyone else has given up. We had the pleasure of interviewing Adam Bright, and here’s what he had to say:

Q: What does “Can’t Quit” mean to you?

BRIGHT: “Can’t Quit” stems from a very broken place in my life. I had to be extremely vulnerable to work through a shattered past to piece this song together. A lot of people have already heard the chorus to “Can’t Quit” and they have already started sharing their own “Can’t Quit Stories” with me, So, with that in mind Can’t Quit, means not giving up on yourself. Understanding that Love can be stronger than addiction and that no one is a lost cause.

Q: What effect do you hope it will have on listeners?

BRIGHT: I hope that “Can’t Quit” will resonate with listeners who may be going through similar struggles in their own lives. Addiction is a difficult and complex issue, and I hope that the sincerity of the song will help listeners feel less alone in their own struggles.

Q: What do you do when you feel stuck while creating a song?

BRIGHT: When I feel stuck while creating a song, I try to take a break and come back to it later with fresh eyes. Sometimes, it’s also extremely helpful to collaborate with other songwriters to get a new perspective on the song.

Q: What aspect of the production process did you enjoy most? Which aspect would you say was the most stressful/difficult?

BRIGHT: The process can be so challenging to get rolling. I usually loop some chord progression and play, what I like to call, “jump rope” with the lyrics, I usually try to find the perfect timing to hop in and get rolling. Bringing “Can’t Quit” to life happened over a period of several months. The part of the process that I enjoyed the most, was tracking instruments. The most stressful/difficult aspect of the production process was trying not to be a perfectionist. There are so many details that take place over the span of 252 measures or 207 seconds. Being intentional every moment truly matters.

Q: What drives you to make music?

BRIGHT: Making music is a way for me to express myself creatively and connect with others through shared experiences and emotions. Music has the power to bring people together and create a sense of community, and I am driven by the desire to create something that resonates with others and makes a positive impact.

Q: What role do you think music played in the early years of your life?

BRIGHT: Music played a significant role in my early years, as it was a way for me to connect with my emotions and express myself creatively. Music has been a constant presence in my life, and I am grateful for the ways in which it has enriched my life and allowed me to connect with others.
