“Call Me” by Lowdown Brass Band

“Call Me” by Lowdown Brass Band strives toward transformative art with an iconic blend of brassy horns and sentimental lyrics. They’re not like your traditional brass band, but they have a bit more swagger, mixing Latin and soul with hip-hop and funk. This is music where you can sway your hips, hop along, smile and have a good time. We had the pleasure of interviewing Lowdown Brass Band, and here is what they had to say:

Q:  What do you think artists can do to help save the world?

LOWDOWN: What artists can do to save the world is continue to make music that inspires people to be the happiest versions of themselves. This will benefit humanity as a whole.

Q: What’s the most memorable show or tour you’ve ever played and why was it so special to you?

LOWDOWN: We have been lucky enough to have had several big moments. Having the opportunity to play in front of 40,000 people at the Montreal Jazz Fest was one of our most memorable performances. We’ve also had just as many amazing experiences in small venues all over the world. LowDown to its very core is all about the exchange of energy that occurs within the magic of live music.

Q: Where did the band name “Lowdown Brass Band” come from?

LOWDOWN: The term “Lowdown” as we see it refers to us being “$itizens Of The World”. We have the “LowDown” on the pulse of music, media, and the current issues of people around the globe.

Q: “Call Me” is a sonically new soul-felt release, and it makes you feel every beat all the way to your core. What is the story behind how this song came about?

LOWDOWN“Call Me” is a modern take on a classic groove that you might have heard at any Chicago house party in 1980 after Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall”. It’s an extremely rich arrangement of horns, strings, funky guitar lines, and a story-driven vocal performance. Who or what is the song about? Well, let me know what it is about.ver turned anyone away. They signed every last item, which was very admirable.

Q: Are you working on any upcoming projects or planning anything exciting that we can look forward to?

LOWDOWN“Call Me” is our first single off of our new album “$itizens Of The World”, which is a continued step in our efforts towards carving out a space for brass band music in pop culture.
