“BREAKDOWN” – Tessa Violet

I can honestly say none of my recent mental malfunctions have sounded as addicting as “BREAKDOWN” from Tessa Violet. The latest from her sophomore album, “BREAKDOWN” captures the mood most of us have been in and then twists it into an electropop confection.

On the surface, this song could be mistaken for something it is not. The beat is inviting, seductive even. Making one think this song can’t possibly be about foundations cracking in someone’s mental state. They would be entirely wrong about that as Tessa Violet takes the current shared commonality of many and delivers it with this sonic blast that really goes into hyperdrive when she hits the rapid-fire choruses. In a time when we’ve been a bit too into our devices, lines like, “My only friend I have is my phone.” have a way of hitting you in places you didn’t even expect. It definitely made me perk up and want to dive deeper into “BREAKDOWN.”

“BREAKDOWN” is just the latest from Tessa Violet and it’s not shocking that it’s as pristine as can be. She has proven since her 2019 debut, ‘Bad Ideas,’ that she is a force destined for a pop takeover with songs such as “Crush” and “Wishful Thinking” racking up millions of streams. Since hitting the scene Tessa Violet has been a fan favorite and is going to be giving fans all of the above and more when she hits the road at the end of August in Seattle before winding down in Denver in October. Tickets for that are on sale now, and to hear more from Tessa Violet, including “BREAKDOWN,” make sure to check her out on all major music and streaming sites today.
