“Already Over (Smile Honey)” by Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards

Theater kids and pop-punk aficionados, gather ’round. Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards just dropped a gem called “Already Over (Smile Honey),” and it’s like your favorite Broadway musical got a serious dose of Warped Tour energy. This track is a folky emo pop-punk explosion, and I’m here for it. The lyrics are so catchy, they could be in a freakin’ musical – like, imagine this playing during a dramatic scene change, complete with jazz hands and pyrotechnics.

But don’t let the Broadway vibes fool you. This isn’t some stuffy show tune. Johnny Manchild never abandons his rich storytelling, and it works perfectly with the old-school power chords. It’s like someone took the best parts of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Blink-182 and threw them in a blender. And then, just to add a touch of whimsy, they mixed in a xylophone. Classic.

The build and delivery are pure theatrical magic, but with that pop-punk sensibility that makes you want to jump around and mosh (or maybe just tap your foot enthusiastically). It’s the kind of song that makes you want to sing along at the top of your lungs, even if you don’t quite know the words yet. “Already Over (Smile Honey)” is a rollercoaster of emotions, a perfect blend of theatrical flair and pop-punk angst. So, if you’re looking for a song that’s both clever and catchy, dramatic and danceable, then give this one a spin.
