“All Back To Mine” – BANNERS

After a viral moment and an inspiring trip home, BANNERS has released his album All Back To Mine, available everywhere now. Michael Joseph Nelson, better known by his artist name BANNERS, originally from Liverpool, spent seven years in Canada to get his career going. Since then, he made the journey home to work on this project. Over nine months he wrote and worked on the album before releasing it to the world. Released on March 29th, All Back To Mine, marks BANNERS second full length project, following his 2021 release It’s Gonna Be Okay.

All Back To Mine kicks off with a love filled, beautiful track “Name In Lights.” The song has such a rich, classic feel, reminiscent to Ben Platt’s debut album Sing To Me Instead and Lewis Capaldi’s work. “When they sell tickets to your life / I’ll be the first in line / they’re gonna put your name in lights,” he sings, pouring his heart out to the one he loves. Subject wise it is like Taylor Swift’s “Sweeter Than Fiction,” where she sings “I’ll be one of the many saying, ‘look at you now, look at you now.’”  The song has soaring violins and beautiful pianos throughout, it is a mesmerizingly romantic track.

“Perfectly Broken” was originally released on an EP of the same name in 2022 and has since had new life breathed into it. The track is now a duet featuring Lily Meola. The song continues the sonic cohesion of the project, trading in some of the pianos from the original release for more of an orchestral feeling. It makes perfect sense as a duet as BANNERS sings about finding this person that fits him because they are broken like he is. Meola has an equally rich and deep voice, blending lovely with his voice. Their chemistry comes across so clearly.

“The Best View In Liverpool” is a must for this project since BANNERS expressed how much his hometown of Liverpool inspired the project. It is a decadent love song, with the hook being “the best view in Liverpool is anywhere you are.” The song puts a clever twist on home being where the heart is because he found love in his hometown.

Overall, BANNERS has such a clean, rich, romantic sound and it is immensely captivating. He has such a clear vision and he put his entire heart and soul in this project. He would perfectly fit in a rotation with artists like Ed Sheeran, Ben Platt, and Lewis Capaldi.
