“Tuesdays, Am I Right?” – Fuji Gateway

When “Tuesdays, Am I Right?” by Fuji Gateway first starts playing, it is so airy, light, and mesmerizing—you will start to think you are levitating. The vocals on Gateway’s song is so high pitched and soft, it can be quite hard to interpret the lyrics because all you are really focused on is the dream-like quality of the vocals and the instrumentals, especially that beautiful guitar solo around the two minute mark. However, if you give this song a second listen (which you absolutely should btw), you will find that the lyrics are basically reflecting on intricacies of past relationships. The feeling of the emotional peaks and valleys, and how it can sometimes leave you stuck in place, reflecting. It can be a harsh reality, but it definitely is something most of us can relate to at some point. Gateway’s approach to the dream-pop genre is both refreshing and poignant, creating a relaxing atmosphere that entices the listener to put this song on repeat and just float away.
