“Sister” – Alina Amuri

“Sister” by Alina Amuri is a bold and vibrant call to action for women to take back their power, and love on themselves. In “Sister” Amuri raps about the struggles that is common within womanhood, especially the systemic injustices women face everyday. Even though the weight of the topic can be kind of heavy and brooding, the instrumentals in the melody is a quintessential afro-beats type of style. Around 2:51, Amuri speeds up the beat and gives the audience the permission to let loose, let their hair down, and their hips whine to the infectious rhythm.
