“Endless Summer” – Alan Walker and Zak Abel

“Endless Summer” by Alan Walker and Zak Abel is one of the catchiest, most anthemic pop tracks you’ll ever hear. With its effortlessly powerful vocal performance and subtle production tricks, this song embodies electric energy. If you’re not screaming the hook at the top of your lungs by the end, you’re doing it wrong. Every melody—every intoxicating rhythm—comes together to make something unforgettable.

A lone, buzzing synth outlines the first four chords. An echoing guitar riff soon joins, followed by this gang-vocal recitation of the hook. A side-chained synth-kick groove underpins the verse: “Lost love / Now it’s back again / I’ve been right here waiting.” The lyrics lay out a relatable, touching exposition. Not to mention, the vocalist’s tone is incredibly warm, clear, and honest. Throughout the verse, the dynamic level remains smooth. The chorus, on the other hand, arrives with a boisterous collection of background vocals, each sliding from one note to the next with grace. The instrumentation gently pulses in preparation for the impending drop.

With a texturally gratifying drum fill, the whole mix erupts in noisy, infectious motifs. The drums set a hypnotizing groove as the singer reiterates the oh-so-memorable hook. Fast-forward to the bridge—a chanted, repackaged nursery rhyme explodes from a barrage of anticipatory claps. Truly, the writer of this track knew exactly what they were doing in terms of creating unforgettable lyrics and melodies. Every section of the song includes some kind of earworm. In the end, every aspect works together to make this track exciting, endearing, and overall brilliant.
