“Just Say The Word” – Monarch.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Monarch., and here’s what they had to say:

Q: What drives you to create music?

MONARCH.: Creating music is a reflection of our lives and it’s a big part of culture. Through this medium, we have the ability to connect to people which transcends words, while creating art we are truly proud of.

Q: At what point did you decide that you want to be musicians? Why?

MONARCH.: Nick – guitarist & producer: I decided I wanted to when I was 9 and never stopped. It takes me to a higher place.
Sarah – Vocalist: I always wanted to sing growing up, and when I started seeing bands perform live in high school, I knew that performing was for me.

Q: What inspired “Just Say the Word”?

MONARCH. (SARAH): Lyrically, my best friend lives across the country, and I wanted to write a fun, happy, pop song about my love for her!

Q: What effect would you like your music to have on listeners?

MONARCH.: We hope to connect with our listeners on an emotional level and create a space for them to feel safe from the craziness of the world.

Q: In what way(s) do you think your sound and style have evolved since you began making music?

MONARCH.: We’ve definitely gotten more complex instrumentally, and our ideas are more established in the fusion of multiple genres.

Q: What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten to your music?

MONARCH.: Every show we play we meet new people who have positive reactions to our music, which makes every show more worth it!
