We had the pleasure of interviewing NuAsia, and here’s what they had to say:
Q: What inspired the name NuAsia?
NUASIA: We are all Country Music loving mixed Asian American heritage Musicians from Los Angeles. So the name “Nu” is for new and Fresh, then “Asian and what’s missing is that we are bringing an entire continent to love country music.
Q: Cool cool! Could you walk us through the production process for “Quiet Violence”?
NUASIA: I am Roshan the leader/drummer/executive producer. I start with lyrics and then create a melody with my production team. Then we allow the rest of the band members to put their flare/take on the instrument recordings. When the instrumental is completed Saint Cloud our lead singer and brilliant songwriter takes my lyrics and then creates what you hear as lyrics and vocal melody. After we record the vocals if needed we do some final touches on instruments
Q: How do you balance each other out as a band?
NUASIA: We all are very seasoned musicians therefore we stay within our discipline and perform to fit the song not to shine our instrument.
Q: Are there moments when you want to try something new, but you aren’t sure if your audience will like the switch? If so, how do you handle this?
NUASIA: NuAsia is a new band that came together to produce this album. We have created this unique vibe that has a foundation of country with POP and/or Adult contemporary influence. So this is our unique sound and hoping that different genre audiences will embrace it.
Q: Who would you say is your biggest supporter? Why?
NUASIA: As we are a new band we support each other. As it is not easy to find Asian American Musicians that would want to produce a Country Music Album we are a unique group that has a passion for what we do. Therefore we are our support our main supporters.
Q: Who’s one artist you all agree has had a significant impact on your sound?
NUASIA: We believe we have a mix of Zach Brown Band, Sam Hunt, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Billy Eilish mixed kind of vibe.
