“every single time” – Devyn Moon

“every single time” by Devyn Moon is a soulful alternative pop song peppered with delicate, effective guitar work and brilliant production tricks. While the whole song swells with dreamy effects and textures, the underlying writing blossoms from something well-formed to something vibrant and alive. Not to mention, Devyn’s acrobatic, controlled vocals will strike awe into the heart of any listener. If you’re in the mood for something smooth and sultry, this’ll doubtlessly do the trick.

A percussive rhythm and a few warm guitar chords welcome us into the song. The sound suddenly opens with a swell: “So I guess that I outgrew you / Things don’t feel the same / Talk like I still know you / Like I saw you yesterday.” Devyn’s vocals are deep and textured, unburdened by too much editing, yet still super crisp. Drums and guitar take up most of the harmonic and rhythmic value, staying concise and dynamically small. The chorus, however, takes us to a different place. “We’ve been through this every single time,” they belt, popping into a new, high register. The instrumental groove thickens, keys forming this spacey, amorphous cloud while an electric guitar mimics the melody. A lower octave doubles the lead vocal, making it more robust and ultimately, more catchy. It would be an understatement to say this chorus was satisfying.

Stay tuned for a delightful guitar solo and an ethereal ending. You’ll fall in love with Devyn Moon’s style in no time, plus, you might just get a new favorite song out of it. Don’t hesitate to give them a follow!
