If you’re like most people, you probably have a bucket list of things you want to do and places you want to visit, but you’ve been putting them off for a while now. Well, musical duo Rosewood Ave’s latest release, “Good Ole Days,” encourages us to live every moment to the fullest. Stop putting things on hold when you can do them now! We had the pleasure of interviewing Rosewood Ave, and here’s what they had to say:
Q: I enjoyed this beautiful country tune! What’s the story behind “Good Ole Days”?
ROSEWOOD AVE: We wrote “Good Ole Days” in Nashville in the summer of 2021 with fellow Canadian singer/songwriter Andrew Peebles. We actually went into this co-write with another idea in mind but like many songwriters say, that specific song did not want to be written that day. We decided to move on to something else and that’s when we started talking about the good ole days and how people don’t realize they are happening until they are a thing of the past. We then came up with the idea of living in the present moment with the person you love and the hook “let’s make some good ole days”. We rolled with that and a couple of hours later we had our newest single “Good Ole Days”.
Q: What aspect of the creative/production process of “Good Ole Days” did you enjoy the most? Why?
ROSEWOOD AVE: When it comes to songwriting, we are two melody-driven songwriters that like to have the vocal melody and guitar arrangement figured out in the early stages of writing a song. We always know it’s going to be a good one when the melody pours out of us effortlessly only moments after coming up with the hook. At that point, we feel like we have a solid roadmap, which makes it easy for us to tell our story and that’s exactly how Good Ole Days came to be.
Q: I see you’re husband and wife—Sabrina and Dave Sauve. Was there a pivotal moment when you both decided to form the musical duo that is Rosewood Ave and pursue music full-time?
ROSEWOOD AVE: Yes there was in fact a pivotal moment. Music has always been the biggest passion that we share together and it’s what brought us together some 14 years ago. We pursued music throughout our entire relationship but just not at the professional level we do now. In our early days together, you’d find us spending any chance we could playing at local events, venues, and family gatherings. High school ended and music still held a very important place in our hearts but we decided at the time that it was best for both of us to go to university/college, get degrees and start our careers first. The year of 2019 came around and at that point, we had successfully obtained careers in teaching and medical radiation, we had just bought our first home and had settled down comfortably. We were happy and content but felt like something was missing in our lives together. It dawned on us that the passion we shared for music was still very much alive and we owed it to ourselves to follow that musical dream. In the last few years we’ve played over 100 live streams during the pandemic that helped us build an amazing fanbase, we’ve released 4 singles that we’re extremely proud of and we’ve achieved so many things we never thought possible for us. Although this road has been nothing short of challenging, we couldn’t be happier with the decision we made that day!
Q: What would you say was the musical highlight of 2022 for Rosewood Ave?
ROSEWOOD AVE: This is a tough one as 2022 was filled with exciting highlights for us! We probably can’t narrow it down to just one but a few top highlights for us were opening up for Canadian Country artist Dean Brody during the Russell Fair, playing the Off-Country showcase at the 2022 CCMA music week, and celebrating New Year’s eve in Nashville.
Q: What projects are you currently working on?
ROSEWOOD AVE: Following the release of our newest single Good Ole Days, we have another single recorded and ready to be released. Although we are excited to share this next one, we’ve had such an amazing response to Good Ole Days that we’ve decided to extend its release. We’re planning a Live acoustic single/video release of Good Ole Days that we hope will be ready in late spring/early summer. It’s going to be a really fun project and we can’t wait till we can share it with everyone!
Q: Is there anything you’d like to say to your supporters?
ROSEWOOD AVE: First off we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of our fans, friends, family, and supporters. You all have been so supportive and encouraging during such an exciting musical journey we’ve been on over the last few years. You’ve been listening to our music non-stop and that’s why we’re going to keep working hard and give you more!
