“Find A Better Day” – Herb Barclay

It’s not enough to invigorate audiences with one genre nowadays. We’ve been in a fusion era for a while now with even the likes of Ed Sheeran, the current king of heartfelt, crossing lines and impressing. So when someone like Herb Barclay comes through with that quintessential singer-songwriter vocal but splashes on a swift EDM scent, you can’t help but welcome a song like “Find A Better Day” with a warm embrace.

“Find A Better Day” may be welcomed as a song but lyrically, it tells a commonplace situation many will be able to relate to as many have taken a few missteps when it comes to relationships. With the same energy and heart James Blunt once used to dominate the charts, herb Barclay comes out swinging with the emotive lyrics. He then knocks it out by layering those heartfelt lyrical moments with EDM. It’s this marriage of genres that allows this song to go to the next level. An evolution of the coffee shop singer-songwriter if you will.

Herb Barclay isn’t just coming out of nowhere with those electronic influences. He started his career as DJ Lazzard, which led to playing clubs throughout Europe. Since then he’s released a great deal under the Herb Barclay Project moniker. So music is this artist’s wheelhouse, no matter what genre he steps in – he owns it and makes it work to his advantage. A dynamo in all that he does, and a joy to take in.
