Artist Interview: “Astronaut” by Bri Fletcher

Q:  ‘Astronaut’ is such an incredible song. Can you explain to us what it’s about?

BRI: Astronaut is a song about reminiscing on how when we were children we never took on the heavy stuff. We only just enjoyed ourselves and life! It’s crazy to look back and realize how simple childhood is and the hardest question anyone ever asked us was “what do you wanna be when you grow up?”

Q:  How do you think growing up in Texas has influenced you and your music?

BRI: Texas definitely shaped my love for country music! I just grew up around it and I loved it. I was also always given the freedom to “perform” and practice my songs and shows growing up so I think that helped me really get comfortable with singing.

Q: What was the experience of filming the ‘Astronaut’ music video like for you?

BRI:  It was so fun! We got to recreate my childhood bedroom and use a ton of fun props that were super 90s and 00s and colorful!

Q: You’ve done a lot of amazing things in your music career! What would you say is one of your favorite experiences so far?

BRI:  Thank you! I have a few favorites so far. Playing Whiskey Jam was a huge goal of mine for so long, then getting on CMT, and then passing 500,000 streams on one of my songs on Spotify 🙂

Q:  What made you decide to move to Nashville?

BRI: I always wanted to move to Nashville from a young age to pursue music but after my husband & I got married and saved up for a year everything just started falling into place and we made the move!

Q: What advice do you have to other young artists out there who are just starting out?

BRI:  Don’t compare yourself to anyone else and just enjoy what you do. Try not to focus on “making it” and just create!
