“Sad Rich Girls” – SANNIA

Recent years have seen a wave of newfound feminism, but it wasn’t always girl power and pink hats. Back in the early ‘00s, there was a wave more toxic crashing down due to celebrity obsession and the rise of social media and reality TV. Famous faces such as Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan found themselves in heated feuds with not only one another but other women in the industry. Taken aback by that, SANNIA decided to gather her thoughts on the matter and pen “Sad Rich Girls.”

Of course, these feuds aren’t just confined to the ‘00s. No, they are still present thanks to the rise of influencers, as well as celebrities still wanting to air their dirty laundry online – pitting women against women on everything from Instagram to the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise. So SANNIA set out to call them out to shine a light on this because as women, we’re already marginalized as a whole. So why are we sitting here fighting against one another when really, we should be lifting one another.

What I love most about this song is that it doesn’t come across as this preachy track borders on boring. It’s far from that. It’s got this anthemic pop vibe that will have you not only listening and taking in but singing along at the top of your lungs as you hold your fellow sister close, realizing we’re going to get nowhere apart. I also love that it calls out rich girls because really, their feuds were for the most part, always based on things as shallow as the solution in a contact lens case.

Those who want to sing along and stick it to those not sticking together can check out “Sad Rich Girls” from SANNIA, out now on all major music and streaming platforms.
