Self-Titled – bloococoon

Alternative rock group bloococoon’s self-titled debut album highlights their unique sound. The band’s distinctive blend of rock, indie, and dream pop is refreshing and their music delves into introspective themes about loneliness, love, loss, and transformation.

“bloococoon” features eight contemplative tracks that all tackle a different topic yet highlight the discomfort that comes with personal growth. The opening, “Blossom Like A Rose,” is accompanied by a powerful yet warm guitar intro, creating a captivating aura that draws the listener in. The following, Stranger Amongst Strangers,” features lyrics about loneliness and isolation. Its dreamlike instrumental further immerses the listener in the band’s unique sound.

“Whirlybird” has a psychedelic 1960s sound—its catchy, moody melody instantly captivates listeners and evokes nostalgia. Lyrically, the track discusses the need for escape, which perfectly complements the systemic atmosphere of the song. The following “Monkey Off My Chest” features soaring guitars and hard-hitting drums, adding a hard rock element to the album.

The closing track, Love Bites (But You Have Not Tasted),” is a rock/post-rock blend featuring lyrics about vulnerability in love. The song brings a 1980s/90s vibe to the album, highlighting the group’s versatility.

The band’s debut album was released on Friday, September 13th, just in time for the beginning of the fall season. It’s available on all major music streaming platforms.
