“Call It A Day” – Jovi Skyler

A one-man band with a DIY edge, punk rock singer-songwriter Jovi Skyler has released his new alt rock psychedelic EP Call It A Day, out now. Skyler is nicknamed a lone wolf and touches every element that goes into his artistry. From editing the music video, to producing the songs, and making the album art, he is truly a one man show. The singer even learned bass in two days while eating baked beans and champagne and now considers himself a bass guitarist.

His lead single “Asshole” was described by Skyler saying, “‘Asshole’ is about sticking to your guns and being your true self, regardless of society’s opinion or expectations about you. The track launches the project with roaring electric guitars and driving drums, abruptly dropping in and out for a more dramatic effect. The music video showcases the psychedelic influence with trippy editing and neon coloring.

The EP ends with “Rumble” which captures the range of anger that Skyler can deliver in his music. The chorus repeats “rumble / rumble / rumble,” as the guitars amply underneath. “Thought I was at the pinnacle of attention / disinfect it all out of me,” he continues. Skyler has a grit to his voice that sits perfectly in this genre and, alongside all his other talents, gives him even more edge.
